I wonder how long it will take for this to be normalized? 50k is a lot for most people, but there are plenty of people for whom 50k is meaningless pocket change. I don’t know how much the average divorce costs but, figuring in loss of assets, I’m sure it’s more than 50k even for the average person. For the middle aged person who’s been through a divorce and lost half their assets, I’d imagine the robot companion is an attractive option compared to going through the meat grinder again.
